Francis Paraison, Haitian Painter
Francis Paraison (1957 - 2002) was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. He is recognized for the unique style of folk-art painting depicting animals with bright colors and large eyes.
Francis Paraison was a Haitian painter well known for his unique style of painting. He was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, April 8,1957; and died in New York City July 12, 2002 in the hospital of cancer at age 45. He had some professional training at The French Institute of Haiti, with Artis Henry-Robert Brésil. He spent time in France, England, Japan, Switzerland, and Germany, where he has displayed and sold many pieces. Francis Paraison migrated to the USA from Haiti and ended his days in New York. His work was exhibited in many galleries in Haiti and the Caribbean.
His painting Three Tigers in the Moonlight is part of the Huntington Museum of Art in West Virginia USA, Haitian Art Collection.
